It’s not even close
The Afghanistan Withdrawal
President Biden said it’s time to get out of Afghanistan and most Americans agree. So, what’s the problem? Simply put, the evacuation is an ongoing catastrophe and a national disgrace. If an enemy had planned it for us, they could not have done a worse job.
Condemnation is coming in from all corners of the US political spectrum and from around the world. The British Parliament has even taken the unprecedented steps of censuring Biden and holding him—a sitting President of the United States of America—in contempt.
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair blasted the US’s withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan as imbecilic, saying the move has “… every Jihadist group round the world celebrating.”
- We abandoned the US Embassy in Kabul, leaving sensitive information, communications equipment, etc.
- The Afghanistan occupation was a NATO operation, yet President Biden devised and implemented the US withdraw unilaterally without consultation with NATO allies. They now question US intentions and reliability—not a good thing for any country, especially one that is supposed to be the leader of the Free World.
The withdrawal was initiated in the middle of the fighting season—a fundamental military blunder. Generally, the Taliban don’t fight all year long. They hibernate in the winter. They go to their homes, to the mountains, and into their caves, and they come back to fight during what is called the Spring Offensive.
- Afghan troops were left with no air support from the United States. There was no way they could possibly have won without air support.
- British, French, German, and Dutch forces are going into the interior to find their people and evacuate them safely. Biden’s Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, said that we do not have the capability to do that for our people. The United States of America, the country with the most powerful military in the world, is not capable of doing what other countries are doing for their people? How disgraceful.
- The evacuation plan was seriously and dangerously flawed. Military troops were withdrawn first with apparently no thought of getting civilians out or preventing billions of dollars of military equipment falling into the hands of the Taliban. The proper way would have been to withdraw civilians first, then all military equipment, and finally, military personnel. But before any action, there should have been a period of preparation in which those who wanted to leave the country were identified, vetted, processed, and made ready for evacuation. None of that happened.
- Estimated cost of US weapons seized by the Taliban: A low estimate is
$7 billion. - Current estimate of inventory of military equipment lost to the Taliban:
- 600,000 various weapons
- 75,000 vehicles
- 2000 armored vehicles
- 200 aircraft
- We have armed our enemy!
- The Taliban are wearing our uniforms and using our night vision and other high-end technologies. It is absolutely unacceptable and unprecedented in US history.
- We abandoned Bagram Air Force Base, which should have been the center of all operations for many very obvious reasons. Bagram is a huge, very secure installation with state-of-the-art technology, housing and hospital facilities, two long runways, and much more—not to mention it’s proximity to China. This decision alone was one of the worst military blunders in US history.
- As this is being written, the Biden administration is depending on the goodwill of the Taliban to allow the US withdrawal of civilians. Thousands of our fellow American citizens are now stranded throughout Afghanistan and thousands of Afghan citizens who cooperated with and helped the United States are in grave danger. It is an unconscionable affront to NATO and to the United States of America that we are depending on—begging—an evil ragtag gang of misogynistic killers to help us.
- Our allies are angry and disgusted with us. Members of parliament and spokespeople for our allies around the world are saying things like, “This is not how you treat allies and especially fellow members of NATO.”
- Somewhere in Afghanistan, the vice president of Afghanistan is fighting with Afghan troops against the Taliban in spite of the fact that the Afghan president fled the country and the Americans are giving them no support whatsoever. It is one more shameful tragedy put upon us and our brave allies by our president.
When asked if he thought China will move in on the Taliban and take the resources, Nigel Farage said this,
“Oh, of course, look, America spent $1 trillion in Afghanistan and has walked away and not only given the Taliban hundreds, billions of dollars’ worth of up-to-date military equipment, it’s also deserted lithium resources, mineral resources worth $3 trillion and it’s literally giving it over to the control of the Chinese and their communist party. You cannot have a green revolution, you cannot have electric cars without large quantities of lithium. So, militarily it’s a disaster. Strategically it’s a disaster. And in terms of geo-politics, you know, we are asking the question over here (in Great Britain), is this the end of America as the global superpower? And I’ll tell you this, the word disaster is used far too often to describe events, but this is a disaster. It is a watershed moment and I’m not sure yet that anyone has realized the damage Joe Biden has done to America and to the Free World.”
- China controls about 80% of the worlds production of rare metals. They are now moving into Afghanistan with their eyes on the rare metals there. The US needs rare metals in order to compete on the world stage, technologically.
As to US leadership? Beginning with President Biden, there is a total lack of intellectual agility. They seem to be extremely confident in their incompetence.
- Among so many other false statements, President Biden said that Al-Qaeda is not in Afghanistan. Yet the deputy commander of the Taliban in Afghanistan is the leader of the Haqqani Network and they are sworn by allegiance to Osama bin Laden. It is his manifesto that he released more than a decade ago and it is al-Qaeda’s manifesto. So, the Biden administration is literally negotiating with terrorists who, in just the last two weeks, Biden has allowed to take control of Afghanistan.
- Pakistan, the Haqqani Network, and the Taliban: The Haqqani Network is an insurgent Afghan guerrilla group which has been fighting against US-led NATO forces and the government of Afghanistan. The Haqqani Network pledged allegiance to the Taliban in 1995. Much of the overall insurgency is controlled by Pakistan.
- We have lost our Intel on the ground in Afghanistan. It is a huge national security loss because we had a multitude of eyes on the ground, which we depended on for Intel not only in Afghanistan but throughout the entire region.
- The Taliban has issued a warning to all women in Afghanistan who have jobs, to not go to work because they cannot protect them. The “new” Taliban are looking no different than the old Taliban. Millions of Afghan women are quickly being reassigned as slaves of the Muslim men, including women who for twenty years have known a better life.
- 41% of Afghans are under the age of 14 and 65% of the population are under the age of 20. They have never lived under Taliban rule.
- 20 years ago, less than 5% of afghans had electricity and today 100% have access to electricity. Millions also have access to the Internet and have cell phones.
America’s credibility in the world has been deeply and egregiously injured. Retired General Jack Keane has called President Biden’s actions a stain on the soul of America. He then added that he is ashamed and that he cannot remember anything like this ever happening before in our entire history.
It’s Trump’s fault
After stating that the buck stopped with him, President Biden quickly blamed the whole shameful disaster on former President Trump. He said he inherited Trump’s plan to leave Afghanistan. He implied that he was bound by it. But that leaves a bleeding discrepancy for all to see. Biden never allowed himself to be bound by other Trump plans. In fact, he pretty much reversed every one of them. We need only to look at the southern border disaster for a gross example of that. Nevertheless, let’s take a look at Trump’s plan.
President Trump when talking face-to-face with Taliban leaders said:
From the time the Trump administration signed the new Peace and Reconciliation Agreement with the Taliban in February 2020, not a single American was attacked by the Taliban in a serious way and there was not a single American killed. The reason for this was simple; The Trump administration made it very clear to the Taliban that if they hurt a single American the US military would come after them and destroy them. Period, end of story. The Taliban knew that President Trump meant what he said.
Now, after the unconscionably irresponsible actions by the Biden administration, the Taliban is in charge of the entire country of Afghanistan and are now one of the best equipped military armies in the world. They are wearing our uniforms and using some of the most advanced military equipment anywhere on the planet. Advantages we once had are seriously compromised if not gone entirely.
This malfeasance by the Biden administration has destabilized global partnerships and hard-earned alliances for years to come. Sadly, the world is now exponentially more dangerous than it was a few weeks ago. This is just one area of consequential issues for which the world turns to America for leadership. There are moral, geopolitical, and strategic exigencies that, when ignored, set in motion a devolution of the world order, which leads to international conflict, often of a highly destructive nature, including war.
If we are to regain the confidence of our allies and the respect and fear of our enemies, we must take positive action that will enhance and strengthen a strong, coherent coalition of free world nations. Words are not enough. Empty rhetoric is not enough.
This catastrophe, along with other debacle’s, such as the southern border disaster, the high crime rates in Democrat run cities, the new round of inflationary cost-of-living increases, and other destructive behaviors, is the predictable product of self-interested, pretentious, condescending power-hungry professional political operatives. Call them the Deep State, the Establishment, or The Swamp, it’s all the same. They are globalists who gain power through the ubiquitous dissemination of dishonest propaganda aimed at the masses. They use the same strategies and tactics on new, unsuspecting generations in order to gain and maintain power. They intentionally create dissension between races, genders, rich and poor, in order to pit one group against another to divide and conquer and harvest the votes.
They will say and do anything to gain power and they are very good at it. But what they are not at all good at, is governing. Hence, every major US war has started with a Democrat in the White House. That is, with one exception; the Civil War. Even so, it was started by the Democrat controlled South when they left the union and started their own nation in order to keep their slaves. A true history of US wars is a history of Democrat ineptitude and arrogance.
So, here we are again. Democrats are back in power and in a short seven months they have made the world far more dangerous than it was under President Trump who made the world much safer than he found it. That is not speculation or opinion, it is incontrovertible fact.
For years, under the Obama Administration, we watched al-Qaeda and ISIS behead people, drown them in cages, burn them alive, and other unspeakable atrocities. Then, within a few short months, President Trump destroyed ISIS and put other bad actors on notice to not mess with the US. Trump was also the first president in 40 years to not get the US into a new military conflict. But, with the Democrats back in power how quickly things have changed. Moreover, past actions taken by the Obama Administration, have proven to be serious mistakes.
The Obama administration released five Taliban leaders to the Taliban in order to get US Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who had been captured by the Taliban. Even though the Obama Administration touted Sergeant Bergdahl as a hero, he was in fact, by his own admission, a deserter. The Obama administration also assured us that the released Taliban leaders would not return to Taliban leadership. Yet, one of those five is now the leader of the Taliban in Afghanistan. In fact, he just met with our CIA Director today in Afghanistan.
On the eve of 911, we are giving legitimacy to the very people who attacked us and murdered almost 3,000 of our citizens. We have also given them control of the country in which they planned their attacks against us 20 years ago. This is quite possibly the most shameful act of any president in US history. It is a gross dereliction of duty and if our Vice President were not as dangerous as she is, President Biden should be impeached. Unlike the wholly bogus impeachment charges brought against President Trump, Biden’s dereliction of duty is real.
