Tragedy At The Border By Executive Order

There is an ongoing tragedy at the Mexican border, and it is not the result of a normal seasonal increase of migrants. So, let’s disavow ourselves of that bogus claim upfront. We must look at the real statistics, not the ones made up by the Democrats.

President Biden has opened our southern border by executive order. He inherited perhaps the most stable southern border we’ve ever had and immediately created one of the most unstable southern borders in US history. How did he manage to do that so quickly? It was easy, he simply reversed the remarkably effective policies created by his predecessor, President Donald Trump.

President Trump was given a decades old mess at the Mexican border, and as you will see, he did something about it.

In May 2019 there were 144,116 border encounters. Trump then implemented his new border protection plan. It included agreements with Mexico and the Northern Triangle Countries. Mexico agreed to dispatch 25,000 troops to their border to deal with illegal immigrants transgressing through Mexico. They also agreed to what became known as the “Remain in Mexico” policy. Along with other very effective policies and the building of a new border wall, in just one year, by April of 2020, monthly encounters were down to 17,106—an almost 90% reduction. Obviously, Trump’s policies were remarkably successful.

You can view the official totals of border encounters from the US Customs & Border Patrol here.

Then Joe Biden became President Biden on January 20, 2021 and he immediately reversed President Trump’s border policies. As though he wanted to make sure no one misunderstood his intentions, President Biden’s rhetoric could not have been clearer and more welcoming. The floodgates were wide open and the massive rush to get across the US border began. Within just two months, in March 2021 border encounters reached 172,331. This was an increase of over 1000% from the previous March numbers under President Trump!

Of course, the numbers only tell part of the story. It is more than anything a story of great tragedy on many levels.

The next video is heartbreaking and, sadly, it is not uncommon.

There is a reason Fox News Channel garners more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined. They really are fair and balanced in they’re news reporting. Fox viewers know this to be true, but for those of you who may think otherwise, it would serve you well to watch the following video.

Here is what is happening: From the first day he took office, President Joseph Biden began to reverse virtually every Trump policy even though they were successful—or perhaps more accurately, because they were successful. He did it by signing more executive orders in the same period of time than any president in US history. He didn’t bother to discuss it with either House of Congress even though his own party controlled both houses. He did it like any dictator would. Regarding the Mexican border, he reversed some of the most effective southern border policies we have ever had—again, policies implemented by President Trump.

As noted, President Trump inherited a mess at the border. Caravans of migrants were arriving with no end in sight. Trump was getting blamed for policies and conditions left over from the Obama Administration. For example, Trump was accused of putting children in cages. But those cages were built by Obama, not Trump. Predictably, the media failed to mention that little fact. Nevertheless, despite constant criticism from the media and the Democrats, President Trump set out to fix the decades old bad Southern border policies. And as we were coming to expect, at the very least, he made more improvements to that very sticky problem than any of his predecessors ever did.

February 22, 2017 President Trump ordered the hiring of 15,000 new immigration enforcement agents, including 5,000 additional border patrol agents.

April 2, 2018 The Department of Justice transferred immigration judges to six detention centers near the border to work in courts with excessive backlogs.

April 6, 2018 President Trump signed a memo to end the ‘Catch and Release’ immigration policy.

June 3, 2018 The southern border wall construction began.

April 4, 2019 President Trump called on Congress to close dangerous loopholes such as “Catch and Release,” chain migration, and the visa lottery program, which enables illegal immigration.

April 5, 2019 President Trump visited the Southern border where he underscored his commitment to securing the border and providing border officials with whatever they needed to successfully manage the immigration crisis.

NOTE: Even though they have been in office for 3 ½ months, and conditions at the border are atrocious, neither President Biden nor Vice President Harris has visited the border since taking office.

May 16, 2019 President Trump unveiled his Administration’s plan to create a “fair, modern, and lawful system” of immigration for the United States. It would modernize the system and secure the border.

January 5, 2021 By January 5, 2021, the U.S. had built new or replacement wall along 452 miles. And despite what the left-wing propagandists say, the wall is very effective where it remains intact. Yet, in one of his most irresponsible actions, President Biden halted all construction of the wall, even though it was already paid for.

President Biden reversed virtually every improvement made by the Trump administration. The result has been catastrophic and deeply tragic. The Mexican cartels now control our southern border. This is not an exaggeration, it is a demonstrable fact.

Among other obvious practices employed by the cartel’s human trafficking business is their use of wrist bracelets. Migrants and smugglers say they use the bracelets to designate who has paid for the right to cross the river.

Reuters, March 9, 2021 One human smuggler who spoke on conditions of anonymity, confirmed the bracelets were a system to designate who has paid for the right to transit through cartel territory.

“They are putting these (bracelets) on so there aren’t killings by mistake,” he said.

Migrants can pay thousands of dollars for the journey to the United States and any human smugglers have to pay off drug cartels to move people through Mexico.

In January 2021, in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, police found 19 charred corpses in two burned-out vehicles. They were shot first and then incinerated beyond recognition. They were migrants on their way to Texas. Mexican policemen have been arrested for their apparent involvement in the massacre.

As terrible as this was, it is not uncommon. Organized crime and the police have been working together for a very long time. Migration north to the United States is big business. Criminal organizations organize and control the process from beginning to end. It starts with motivating people to migrate north, then organizing caravans or other means of getting them there, and finally getting them across the border into the United States.

For people who leave the northern triangle countries for a better life in the US, the way north takes them through territory controlled by these criminal organizations. Usually, this means using human smugglers and traffickers—known as coyotes— who charge them thousands of dollars. Yet, despite what they pay upfront, they are not guaranteed a safe or easy trip.

Many are kidnapped and tortured “until they reveal the phone numbers of relatives in the United States and holding them for ransom.” (Associated Press report)

If they or their families can’t pay? It’s not complicated; they are forced into sexual or other kinds of bondage or killed. As one analyst put it, “It’s a long trail of extortion, and it’s a very dangerous journey for all of them.”

The migrants pay to be taken north to the United States, yet along the way they may be raped repeatedly, compelled to carry mochilas—large bags filled with illegal drugs.

It should be clear to even a casual observer that the consequences of these conditions at our southern border are tragic on many levels. If caught, the migrant drug carrying “mules” could be imprisoned. Thousands of more US citizens are dying from illegal drug overdoses. Countless thousands of well-meaning migrants seeking a better life will be victimized and, in many cases, have their lives taken or destroyed forever. Additionally, bad people are arriving from all over the world and entering our country via our southern border daily and without our knowing who they are.

By opening our borders, President Biden has empowered these criminal enterprises to an extent perhaps never seen before. Added to the atrocities listed above, the abuse suffered by tens of thousands of unaccompanied children is a stain on our country, which will haunt us forever. The Biden administration southern border policies are the most inhumane we have ever witnessed. It is no wonder that they have tried everything to keep us from learning the truth about what is happening there. And every day it continues, they are creating more victims. It is a national disgrace.

This just in …

The solution is simple and readily available. Reinstate President Trump’s policies and finish building the wall. For those of you who do not know it, the Trump wall is more than a physical barrier; it also has hi-tech capabilities built into it. And once again, it is very effective.

Some final thoughts: One way Democrats mislead people is to say that if you want to control who gets into our country, you are against immigration and you are an anti-immigrant bigot and/or xenophobe. However, the truth is quite different. Most Americans are proud of the fact that we are a nation of immigrants and that we continue to welcome them. In fact, we take in about 1 million new legal immigrants every year. We simply want to know who they are and that they are coming because they love freedom and all of the things that make America great.

UPDATE: May 11, 2021, The official totals of border encounters for April 2021 from the US Customs & Border Patrol have just been released. April 2021 = 178,622, highest monthly total in over 20 years (17,171 unaccompanied minors)
